Manager, Data Science and Analytics

Askuity is a Toronto-based retail analytics software company operating as an innovative new division
within The Home Depot. Askuity’s mission is to transform merchant-vendor collaboration between The
Home Depot and its product suppliers by enabling best-in-class data-driven decision-making and real-
time retail execution.

The Manager, Data Science and Analytics is responsible for leading a team of analysts and data scientists.
This team is tasked with providing analytical and data science support to Product Development to build
the next generation of Retail Analytics solutions. This individual will play a key role in providing thought
leadership to oversee the development of insightful and scalable insights, ensuring analytic capabilities
are defined with proper methodological rigor and architected to be available in a robust, scalable, and
sustainable fashion.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to conceptualize, develop and implement capabilities that will support the development of recommended actions for end-users, including forecasting, clustering, basket analysis, etc.
  • Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise in all aspects related to analytics and data science within Askuity
  • Lead the team in the development of analytical insights and recommendations to cross-functional business partners to help them gain a better understanding of the business, identify opportunities for vendors and merchants, and improve their decision-making
  • Coach and continuously develop analytics and data science talent within the team
  • Collaborate with partners to define the strategy and development plan for incorporating these recommendations, and machine learning more broadly, into the Askuity product
  • Prioritize multiple requests from executive and cross-functional partners for both ad-hoc and repeatable support

Experience/Knowledge Required:

  • PhD or MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Statistics, Applied Math, Econometrics, Operations Research, or other related fields
  • Deep understanding of statistical modeling, machine learning, or data mining concepts, and a track record of solving problems with these methods in a commercial setting
  • Proficient in one or more machine learning or statistical modeling tools such as ScikitLearn, Tensorflow, and Python
  • Excellent communication skills with both technical and business people, able to speak at a level appropriate for the audience
  • Experience with both AWS and Google Cloud Platform an asset
  • Experience with relational (SQL) Databases
  • Experience with developing products deployed to production
  • 2+ years of people management experience and leading high-performing teams
